Health and Quality of Life in New Zealand
The following are figures which outline the perceptions that New Zealanders have about the quality of life in New Zealand and of their health. This data has been sourced from the Quality of Life in New Zealand's Twelve Largest Cities Residents Survey 2004.
- 88% of all New Zealanders described their quality of life positively, either as "good" or "very good".
- 88% of all New Zealanders stated that they perceive their health as "good", "very good" or "excellent".
- 80% of all New Zealanders stated that they were "satisfied" or "very satisfied" with their free time.
- 88% of all New Zealanders stated that they participated in some type of physical activity "weekly" or "daily".
- 87% of all New Zealanders stated that they were "happy" or "very" happy" with their emotional well-being.
- 85% of all New Zealanders stated that they were "satisfied" or "very satisfied" with their life.
- Only 14% of all New Zealanders stated that they were stressed "always" or "most of the time".
- However, 72% of all New Zealanders stated that in the times that they were stressed, they had support "always" or "most of the time".
- 66% of all New Zealanders stated that they were "satisfied" and "very satisfied" with the balance between their work and their life.
- 92% of all New Zealanders stated that they had an occurrence of some or outright positive contact.
- Only 3% of all New Zealanders stated that they felt lonely or isolated "most of the time" or "always".
- 96% of all New Zealanders stated that they had "easy" or "very easy" ease of access to a park or green space.
