Justine Fitzmaurice - Play

Justine Fitzmaurice from County Roscommon in Ireland has embraced the Kiwi attitude of 'giving it a go' since she moved to New Zealand two-and-a-half years ago.

Since arriving she has completed a number of half marathon runs, a couple of triathlon events and has even done "a few crazy things" such as skydiving and bungy jumping. Justine says she is definitely more sporty and outdoorsy than when she was back home in Ireland where people prefer to be indoors or in the pub.

According to Justine easy accessibility to sporting and outdoor activities in New Zealand is a key reason for her healthier lifestyle. She swims regularly at an indoor pool and in the sea, skis during the winter and plays social netball and now also owns two bikes – a road bike, and a mountain bike for off-road jaunts around Wellington’s scenic Mount Victoria.
